Building People Connections

Jo is interested in people and places — what matters to us, how we see the world and what we can learn from one another as we work towards better placemaking. She combines an understanding of the built environment with a natural ability to connect people, build understanding and find common ground.

The Idea

Jo's career has been one of different chapters working in architecture, film,TV and language teaching. Along the way, she became increasingly aware of the gap between how we create our built environment and how the people who use it understand and engage with it. The language, processes and decisions involved in building and planning can feel inaccessible, leaving people unsure where to start, how to get involved or how to make their voices heard.
